Light Pads

Key Elements

  • Unity, Node.js and Arduino
  • Manged using Azure
  • Leaderboards and tracking using Firebase

Overview

  • Mini games where players hit coloured pods to score points
"Light Pads is an interactive plug-and-play game system developed for trampoline parks, family entertainment centres, activity parks and indoor leisure."
Each player is given an RFID wristband which is then use to trigger the Light Pads and identifies the player allowing each Pad to be used for multiple games at the same time.
Games are created using Unity which controls the Pads via a Node.js server utilising websockets. The Light Pad control is set up so that games can be created without Unity.

My Contributions

- Prototyped the Light Pads using Python and a Raspberry Pi.

- Developed the Light Pad Server to enable games to communicate with Light Pads using Node.js and Websockets.

- Created the API for Unity, enabling communication with Light Pads allowing for games to be easily created.

- Implemented installation system for installing and updating LightPad games.

- Setup and managed Firebase for users, device settings and leaderboards including in game implementation.

- Designed the LightPads housing for 3D printing using TinkerCAD and managed the printing schedule
