Deep Space Dilemma

Key Elements

  • Made using Unity
  • Manged using GitHub
  • Networking using Photon PUN

Overview

  • VR Shooter
  • Complete objectives as you progress to a larger goal

Deep Space Dilemma was my final year project at Plymouth University. Inspired by games like Among Us and Project Winter, I set out to create a VR social deduction experience. The concept involved a group of players working together to complete mission objectives, while one or more players secretly attempt to sabotage the team's efforts.

Originally intended as multiplayer Co-op shooter due to time constraints the multiplayer aspect had to be dropped. Before this decision, I had implemented a lobby and matchmaking system using Photon PUN, allowing players to join games by interacting with in-world buttons.

Gameplay

Players must navigate their way through an occupied space station to recover the stations central databank. Along the way players will be faced with a series of tasks which must be completed to reach their goal. To survive, players can find a variety of weapons to defend themselves against the hostile forces controlling the station.

Features

- Combat: Players can engage in combat using a variety of weapons, each featuring an immersive reloading system that requires manually removing and replacing ammo.

- Interactive Environment: Players can interact with the environment by picking up items and opening doors through tactile interactions, such as pressing buttons.
